Rallye Sunseeker is the first round of the Pirelli MSA National Gravel Rally Championship and this year takes place on 22nd and 23rd February. The event sees rally crews from the UK, Ireland and Europe compete over 13 stages through Bournemouth’s Lower Gardens and the forests of Dorset.

Grid Law has been involved with Rallye Sunseeker for the past two years as the official legal advisor to the event and it is an excellent example of the types of work Grid Law is involved with.

David Walker, a director of Grid Law, attends all event planning meetings involving the various parties responsible for organisation and running the rally. In addition, Grid Law prepares and advises on the contracts between the event organisers and the various partners, including sponsors.

One of the attractions of events such as Rallye Sunseeker is that members of the public can get close to the action. However, having high performance rally cars competing in places such as the lower gardens in Bournemouth means that safety is taken extremely seriously. The event organisers carry out risk assessments to ensure that potential risks are identified and then steps can be taken to minimise the chances of them occurring. Grid Law is always on hand to provide the necessary legal advice as and when necessary.

Grid Law’s involvement with Rallye Sunseeker runs much deeper than just being the official advisor to the event. Last year Grid Law sponsored the Gore Heath stage where Marcus Dodd set the fastest time through the stage on route to winning the event over all. Grid Law’s sponsorship continues this year but moves to the main Wareham stage of the event.
